陈科于2002年和2005年在南开大学学习并获得学士学位和硕士学位。2006年1月至今,就读阿尔伯塔大学电子和计算机工程系,研究领域为鉴定和预测蛋白质的结合位点,以及在药物设计方面的应用。在阿大期间,他曾获得过学校Provost Doctoral Entrance 奖学金、Alberta Ingenuity 和 Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE)奖学金,在SCI国际期刊上发表论文9篇, EI国际会议发表论文4篇。主要研究成果是1)分析和预测了蛋白质的结构类别,折叠类别,这些信息对推断蛋白质的功能有重要作用。2)分析和预测蛋白质的结合位点,这些信息有助于药物设计。
Ke Chenreceived his B.Sc. and M. Sc. degrees from the Nankai University, Tianjin. He joined the Ph.D. program in the department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at University of Alberta in January 2006. His research focuses on characterization and prediction of binding sites of proteins, and its application for rational drug discovery. He received Alberta Ingenuity Studentship and Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE) studentship at May 2007. He is also a recipient of Provost Doctoral Entrance Award at University of Alberta. So far, he has published 9 SCI journal papers, and 4 international conference papers. The contributions of Ke Chen’s research includes: 1) Analysis and prediction of protein’s structure fold, class, which serves as important information to infer protein’s structure. 2) Analysis and prediction of protein’s binding sites, which is crucial for designing novel drugs for a target protein
傅彧毕业于北京邮电大学,获学士学位;2003年于新加坡国立大学获硕士学位。同年赴加拿大阿尔伯塔大学留学。其间,师从著名学者 Witold Krzymien和 Chintha Tellambura教授。 她的课题方向是闭合回路多天线正交频分复用系统中的干扰消除预编码技术。该课题是无线通信领域内重要基础课题之一。目前她已经在该领域的一流国际期刊上发表2篇SCI学术论文以及12篇国际会议论文,同时还有4篇期刊论文在审议中,她同时担任多家学术期刊和国际会议的审稿人。留学期间,连续三年获得加拿大NSERC国家级奖学金 和 Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE)奖学金。傅彧的研究成果主要包括:1)在各种衰落环境下,考虑天线相关性,并采用传输端预编码技术消除由相关性导致的系统性能衰减;2) 消除正交频分复用系统中的子载波间干扰;3)因为闭合回路系统的反馈信道容量有限,设计算法利用有限的发送端信道信息达到最大的系统增益。该研究成果改进了系统性能,降低了反馈要求并提供较低的复杂度,为新一代无线通信系统中减少干扰提供可行性。
Yu Fureceived her B.Sc.degree from Beijing university of Posts and Telecommunications, and M. Sc. degrees from the National University of Signapore. Since September 2003, she studied at the University of Alberta for her Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Professors Witold Krzymien and Chintha Tellambura, adistinguish scholars. Her research focuses on transmitter strategy in closed-loop multiple-antenna systems, which is one of the fundamental topics in wireless communications. So far, she has published 2 SCI journal papers in prestigious IEEE journals and 12 international conference papers. She has been acting as a reviewer for many international journals and conferences. She was also a recipient of NSERC postgraduate scholarship and Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE) studentships from 2006 to date. The contributions of Yu Fu’s research include: 1) propose schemes to mitigate the performance degradation due to antenna correlations; 2) develop algorithms for reducing intercarrier interference for OFDM systems;3) reduce the feedback requirements in closed-loop systems and simplified the receiver’s structure. Her proposed algorithms a have good performance, low feedback requirements and low complexity, which are desirable for interference reduction in the future wireless systems.
胡岩毕业于北京大学地质学系。2006年开始在维多利亚大学攻读博士学位,学习期间在本领域一流刊物上已经发表6篇科学论文。在国际学术会议上发表13篇论文。2007年荣获由加拿大自然科学与工程研究委员会颁发的加拿大研究生奖学金,加拿大博士研究生所能获得的最高荣誉。目前主要进行三个课题的研究:完善和发展由胡岩及其导师王克林先生共同创立的“动态库仑楔形体” 理论;三维粘弹性有限元模型研究发生大地震后,地壳形变的规律和机制;作为美国Earth Scope地学计划的一部分,处理、分析安置在钻孔中的应变仪收集的地壳应变数据。
Yan Hu did his undergraduate program at Geology Department in Peking University. In 2006, he started his PhD program in University of Victoria ,Canada. During his study, Yan Hu has published six journal articles and 13 international conference papers. In 2007, he was awarded Canada Graduate Scholarship by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the highest honour for PhD students in Canada. His research mainly includes three parts: refine and apply the dynamic Coulomb wedge theory by Yan Hu and his supervisor, Prof. Kelin Wang; use a 3-d viscoelastic finite element model to study the crustal deformation and its mechanics after great earthquakes; as part of Earth Scope project of USA, process and analyze strain data continuously collected from borehole strainmeters.
苏铮本科毕业于厦门大学,2003年赴加拿大阿尔伯塔大学化学系攻读博士学位。其间以第一作者发表六篇SCI论文,分别刊登在化学领域最权威的刊物:美国化学会志和德国应用化学。并且先后赴美国,欧洲参加学术研讨会,与本领域专家建立友好联系。研究课题致力于以高分辨光谱学方法和量子力学计算为工具,深入探讨分子级别的手性识别效应及其机理。她已于2007年底获得博士学位,目前在英国牛津大学物理化学专业从事博士后研究, 主要探讨碳水化合物与蛋白质分子识别的相互作用。
Zheng Su obtained her bachelor’s degree from Xiamen University. She went to pursue a PhD degree in chemistry at the University of Alberta, Canada. Her thesis research focuses on high resolution spectroscopic and ab initio studies of chiral molecular complexes. The results have provided for the first time insights into the “hand shake” mechanism on the molecular level, which have been highly recognized by the most prestigious journal in chemistry, Journal of the American Chemical Society and Angewandte Chemie International Edition. She has made oral presentations about the research work at quite a few international conferences, which build up academic connections for future career. She graduated from UofA in 2007 and is currently conducting postdoctoral research on molecular recognition, in particular probing carbohydrate–protein interactions at the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory, University of Oxford.
许峥嵘毕业于天津大学化工学院,获学士和硕士学位。2004年赴加拿大阿尔伯塔大学化工材料系攻读博士学位,预计于今年(2008)4月毕业。他从事电化学电催化研究多年。博士期间课题方向是新型阳极催化剂的抗硫性能和催化性能研究。该课题是目前燃料电池领域内重要研究方向之一。目前他已经在该领域的一流国际期刊上发表3篇SCI学术论文以及6篇国际会议论文。同时他开发的新型催化剂已经申请专利。
Zhengrong Xu, received his Bachelor and Master degree in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University, pursues his doctorate at the Chemical & Materials Engineering department of University of Alberta, and is expected to defend his thesis on April 2008. He works on electrochemistry and electrocatalys for years. In his Ph.D study period , he focuses on the sulfur-tolerant and catalysts and activity research, which is one of the significance in fuel cell research. He has published three papers on prestigious journals and six papers on international conference. The new anode material he developed results in the application for a patent.
黄鲲2003年从北京大学生命科学院本科毕业后,进入加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚大学神经科学专业攻读博士学位,师从Alaa El-Husseini和 Michael Hayden。博士期间,她研究首次鉴定了神经细胞中的一种叫做HIP14的酶参与控制多种神经蛋白的运输和功能。这项研究发表在生物学科权威杂志Neuron上。后进一步发现HIP14酶参与Huntington舞蹈症的病理机制,这项研究很快在Nature Neuroscience上引起了重视。在博士学习期间,她撰写了一篇综述和一篇书稿的章节。除此以外,她和实验室及系里的其他学者合作,发表了2篇论文,另有2篇正在审稿,一篇准备提交。课余时间,她还积极参与各种社区的义工活动,包括圣保罗医院,温哥华反妇女暴力中心,生活朋友中心,亚洲艾滋病防御中心,和乔治皮尔逊中心。
Kun Huang ,after graduating from Beijing University with Bachelor of Science degree in 2003, she cames to University of British Columbia to pursue PHD study in Graduate Program in Neuroscience with Dr. Alaa El-Husseini and Dr. Michael Hayden. During her PHD study, she first identified an important enzyme, namely HIP14, in controlling the trafficking and function of a number of neuronal proteins, which led to a first-author publication in Neuron. Following this study, she focused on how this enzyme involves in the pathogenesis of Huntington’s Disease, which led to another first-author publication in Nature Neuroscience. During the study, she also published one review article and one book chapter. In addition, she has actively collaborated with other graduate students in the lab and the department. These collaborations result in two co-author publications, two in revision and one in the process of submission. On her spare time, she volunteers at local communities such as St Paul’s hospital, Vancouver Rape and Relief Women’s shelter, Friends For Life, Asian Society for Intervention of AIDS and George Pearson Center.
任俊1991年 皖南医学院本科毕业,1994年 中山医科大学硕士毕业,2002年开始在加拿大阿尔伯特大学生理研究室攻读博士学位。任俊在攻读博士期间已经发表了第一作者文章六篇, 另有三篇准备投稿. 他的出众之处不仅表现在他发表了很多高质量的文章, 而且反映在他获得了多项竞争激烈的奖学金和奖励. 他获得了加拿大健康研究院, 加拿大肺病研究协会, 加拿大新生儿猝死研究基金会和 阿尔伯特省医学研究基金会的多项奖学金. 并且获得第十届牛津会议杰出青年奖. 尤其值得一提的是他作为第一作者的ampakines文章产生了巨大影响. 为此获得阿尔伯特大学医学之星奖. 这篇文章也为公司Neurochemical Modulation Inc的成立和研究方向奠定了基础. 这项药物研究工作很可能使得ampakines发展成为临床急需的治疗呼吸抑制的新药.
Ren Jun started PhD program in 2002 at the University of Alberta. This included studies of neurochemical control of respirations in new borns, determination of the central respiratory defect in models of Prader-Willi and Rett Syndrome and the development of ampakine therapy to alleviate respiratory depression. Jun’s excellent training in the past allowed him to made very impressive progress on a number of projects pertaining to the neural control of breathing. He has 6 first author papers published and three more to be submitted in two months. In addition, he has contributed to 8 further collaborative publications. The best indicators of Jun’s talents are his publications and his success at competitive awards. Jun has received Fellowships from AHFMR, CIHR, SIDS foundation and the Canadian Lung Association. He received the U of Alberta Faculty of Medicine MedStar Award for having the leading paper about Ampakine that provided the foundation for the work to be performed in a spin-off company. The ampakine work had a very good chance of making it to the clinic where it will be used to alleviate respiratory depression caused by analgesics and anesthetics.
高志华于中南大学湘雅医学院获硕士学位。2004年9月在阿尔伯塔大学肿瘤系攻读博士学位。她的课题研究方向主要涉及Disabled-1蛋白质可变剪接体在视网膜发育中的功能研究。她已在国外期刊上发表多篇论文,部分研究成果被选入至冷泉港实验室会议上作大会发言。因其成绩优异,已获学校和省内的多项奖学金。
Zhihua Gao obtained her master degree from the Central South University Xiangya School of Medicine. She joined the graduate program in the Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta in September, 2004. Her research project focuses on the role of Disabled-1 alternatively spliced isoforms in the developing retina retina. She has had several publications on international academic journals. Part of her research data has been selected for a platform presentation at the prestigious Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Conference. 毕业于南京大学化学化工学院高分子系,于2004年进入UBC化学系攻读博士学位。其研究主要通过蛋白质工程和基于原子力显微镜的单分子力学谱探索蛋白质的结构与其力学性能之间的关系。并利用这些知识,设计和调控蛋白的力学性能。相关的研究成果已经发表在重要的学术期刊上。他期待这些人工合成的有着优良机械性能的蛋白分子可以广泛应用于新型材料和纳米机械元件领域。
Yi Cao joined the chemistry department of University of British Columbia in 2004, after graduation from school of chemistry and chemical engineering of Nanjing University with BSc in 2001 and MSc in 2004. He is currently a fourth year graduate student majoring in biophysical chemistry. His research is mainly focused on finding the relationship between protein’s structure and its mechanical property using protein engineering and single molecule atomic force microscopy techniques. A few papers related to his research have been published on top journals in which he is the leading author. He hopes his research will further help to engineer proteins with tailored mechanical properties for bottom-up construction of new materials and nanomechanical devices.
赵伟兵本科毕业于武汉理工大学管理科学专业,硕士毕业于广西大学旅游管理专业。目前正在加拿大卡尔加里大学Haskayne商学院旅游管理专业攻读博士学位,师从两位世界著名旅游学者里奇教授和盖茨教授。博士在读期间,他在本领域高水平国际学术刊物上发表了4篇论文,3次参加国际学术会议,并且一直与国内同行保持密切联系,成功合作申请了两项省级纵向课题。其研究领域主要是第三世界旅游发展问题,并特别关注乡村地区的旅游扶贫。为了收集论文数据,赵伟兵在广西进行了长达6个月的数据调研,计划于2008年年底毕业。
Weibing Zhao holds a Bachelor degree in Management Science from Wuhan University of Technology and a Masters degree in Tourism Management from Guangxi University. He is now pursuing his PhD degree in Tourism Management at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, under the joint supervision of Prof. J. R. Brent Ritchie and Prof. Donald Getz. Over the past few years, he has published four research papers in top-tier international journals in the field, and attended three international conferences. In addition, he always keeps in close touch with domestic colleagues, and as a principal investigator has successfully applied for two province-level research projects. his research interests mainly focus on third world tourism development, especially the roles of tourism in rural poverty alleviation. He has completed a six-month fieldwork in Guangxi for dissertation data, and is expected to graduate by the end of 2008.
